D.C. Authorities Investigate Washington Wizards Gun Dispute
January 2, 2010
Law enforcement officials are investigating a dispute between Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton that allegedly involved gun possession. According to multiple sources, the dispute began during a card game that took place on the team’s overnight trip back to Washington from Phoenix. The dispute escalated when Arenas allegedly placed three guns that he owns a chair near Crittenton’s locker stall and encouraged Crittenton to pick one before practice on December 21st. In response, Crittenton let Arenas know that he had his own gun. The investigation is still ongoing. However, if either Arenas or Crittenton is found to have brandished a gun against the other, either will likely face a long-term suspension and heavy fines from the NBA. NBA spokesman Tim Frank has stated that the NBA is not taking any independent action at this time.
